Thank you for choosing Ballaquark Bungalow. We want your stay to be comfortable, enjoyable and effortless. This page covers the main practical details. Full check-in instructions and any specific codes will be sent to you once your booking is confirmed.

Check-in

Standard check-in is from 2:00 pm.

If you need an earlier arrival, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. You can also drop off your luggage earlier if needed.

Check-out

Please check out by 12:00 pm.

Late check-out may be possible by arrangement — just let us know. You can also leave your luggage with us until later if needed.

House guidelines

Please respect the property and other guests
No smoking inside the bungalow
Keep noise to a reasonable level, especially in the evenings
Quiet times 10pm - 7am for the comfort of all guests, thankyou
Please keep shared areas (kitchenette, bathroom, toilet, patio) clean and tidy
Report any issues or damage as soon as possible

Heating/Cooling

Hive smart heating is installed in the property
Simply turn the thermostat on the radiator to the required temperature
There is an electric blanket provided on the bed, simply set to your preference
Cooling - Open the windows to allow cool fresh air in the room, electric fans are also provided
Report any issues as soon as possible

Security/Safety

Blink security cameras are installed on the exterior of the property
The Isle of man has a very low crime rate
Please lock your room when leaving
Please lock the front door when leaving, if nobody is in the house
Fire extingiusher and fire blanket (in the kitchenette) Smart, Nest Fire and CO2 alarms installed
Report any issues as soon as possible

WiFi

Starlink high speed 300+mbps WiFi is provided, details will be provided on arrival or with your check-in information.

Parking

Free parking on the drive or road, please advise us regarding your vehicle/Vehicles when you book. We will advise the best place to park.

Before you leave

Check you have all your belongings
Leave the keys in your room or lock the property as you leave and pop the keys through the letterbox
Close windows and turn off lights, and other electrical items

Isle of Man Quick Guide

East of the Island
" Douglas: Main hub with shops, pubs, restaurants.
" Manx Museum (prehistory to modern Manx culture).
" Ride the Isle of Man Steam Railway (Douglas to Port Erin)
" Manx Electric Railway (Douglas to Ramsey - world's oldest working tram system in parts).
" NSC for sports/swimming.

South of the Island
" Castletown: Start with Castle Rushen - one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the British Isles (around 800 years old).
" Explore the keep, prison cells, and treasury. Open daily ~9:30-16:30 (check exact times seasonally).
" Nearby: Old House of Keys (interactive Manx parliament recreations)
" Nautical Museum with the historic yacht Peggy.
" Port Erin: Arguably the island's nicest beach, with great walks, the steam railway terminus, and a relaxed vibe.
" Port St Mary: Good for coastal paths and beaches.
" Boat trips to the Calf of Man (nature reserve with seabirds, seals, and dramatic scenery) depart from here.
" Cregneash: Atmospheric preserved crofting village with thatched cottages. Great insight into old Manx life.

West of the Island
" Peel: Charming harbour town with a lovely beach.
" Peel Castle on St Patrick's Isle - dramatic medieval ruins and Viking history.
" House of Manannan museum: Excellent interactive exhibits on Manx myths, Vikings, and seafaring.
" Don't miss fresh kippers from the smokehouses and ice cream on the prom.

North of the Island
" Ramsey: Mooragh Park (boating lake, playgrounds)
" Grove Museum of Victorian Life, long sandy beach + promenade
" Harbour with the old swing bridge, and Albert Tower for views.
" Laxey: The iconic Great Laxey Wheel (Lady Isabella) - the world's largest working waterwheel (1854)
" Snaefell: Highest point (2,036 ft / 621 m). On a clear day, see four countries (England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales).
" Take the Snaefell Mountain Railway from Laxey (runs Easter-October, weather permitting). Summit café available.

Practical tips:
" Heritage railways are a highlight - buy a day pass or Go Explore ticket for heritage sites + transport.
" The island's coastal path and many glens are excellent for hiking.
" Peaceful walks in Glen Helen or Silverdale Glen.
" Best visited spring-autumn for full railway operations and better weather.
" Everything is doable by public transport, but a car gives more flexibility for rural spots.
